COVID-19 is an unprecedented situation. It is one that has turned lives upside down. People have had to work from home, teach their children from home, cancel their trips(flights and all), and social distance. While it has been difficult for many people, you don't have to stay at home forever. In fact, there are some travel options that you and your family can consider, instead of flying. One of the best options you have is to take a road trip. Road trips used to be the rage before everyone started flying. Now, they are making a comeback. There are 15 amazing and thrilling road trips you can consider taking in 2020.





Canada's Alaska Highway





This highway was made during World War 2. It connects Alaska to the United States through Canada. It starts in Dawson Creek, British Columbia, and goes to Delta Junction, Alaska. It runs for 1,390 miles. To get through the entire highway, it will take you about 6 days. Some of the major attractions on this road trip would be Stone Mountain Provincial Park, Muncho Lake Provincial Park, and Sign Post Forest.



Milford Road, New Zealand




Milford Road runs from Te Anau to Milford Sound. It is a wonderful, scenic drive. You can experience Eglinton Valley, Mirror Lakes, Lake Gunn, and many more attractions. This road is 158.1 miles, and it would take you approximately 8 hours to fully experience this road trip.



The Wild Atlantic Way, Ireland



The Wild Atlantic Way is 1600 miles, and it would take you about 3 weeks to take this road trip. This is one of the largest coastal routes throughout the world. It goes from the west coast of the Inishowen Peninsula to Kinsale, County Cork. Some of the things that you can experience on this road trip include the ruins of coney island, Donegal headlands, Slieve league coast, and much more.


Epic Andes, South America


To drive this road trip, you would be traveling about 4,500 miles. On the west side of South America, driving this entire mountain range would take you 22 hours without any stops. However, going on a road trip also means exploring beautiful places. You can explore Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, and many other beautiful places, as well.



Paris to the Riviera, France




One of the greatest road trip ideas is to drive Paris to the Riviera. If you take the quickest route, you would be driving approximately 8 ½ hours for 552 miles. Some of the fantastic things you can experience along this route include beaches, many cute mountain villages, and other beautiful scenery. While exploring, Aix-en Province, St Tropez, and Nice during your road trip and don't forget to pay a visit to UNESCO World Heritage Calanques National Park. You will enjoy its white cliffs and turquoise waters.


The Mongol Rally



You can take different routes to get across the Mongol Rally. However, it will take about 3 to 4 weeks, as you will drive between 8,000 to 10,000 miles. When driving this route, you can check out mountains, deserts, visit the Blue Mosque in Turkey, Uzbekistan, and so much more.



The Mississippi Great River Road



This road stretches for 2,069 miles. It would take you approximately 36 hours of non-stop driving to get from one end of this road to the other end. However, even though this route is quite long, you can check out thrilling things along the way. Some of these places include the Motor Mill Historic Park, National Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, Driftless Area Education and Visitor Center, and so many other places, as well.



Great Ocean Road, Australia






If you want to take a road trip, you should check this one out. It will take you about 9.5 hours to drive the 413 miles. There is a lot of stunning views on this trip, including historic villages, beautiful coastline, the surf capital of Torquay, cute Koalas and so much more.



The Atlantic Road, Norway




While the main stretch is only 5.157 miles long, it is still an amazing place to check out in 2020. You can check out the amazing views, beautiful water surrounding the road, and coastal scenery. You can also explore Eldhusoya, Kvernes Stave Church, Bremsneshola cave, just to name a few.



Jebel Hafeet, United Arab Emirates



Near Al Ain in the UAE, you will take this road for 7.3 miles up a mountain. While it wouldn't take you very long to drive this route, you can make memories to last a lifetime. Some of the things you will experience on this road trip include seeing the mountain range, checking out the museum nearby, or going to be zoo close-by. You can also check out Al Jahili Fort, Al Ain Mall, Green Mubazzarah, and more.


Route 62, South Africa



This route is approximately 528 miles long and would take 8 to 10 hours to drive without stopping much. Being that you are going on a road trip, you should definitely stop to check out the museums, safari drives, wine tours, ostrich riding, and other attractions along this route. Some other places that you can check on this route include the Barrydale Cellar, Sanbona Wildlife Reserve, Cango Caves, Le Roux Townhouse, and more.


NC500, Scotland




This road trip will take around 5 to 10 days. You would be driving 516 miles. The reason you need longer to take this route is that there is so much to see and experience. Some of these things include seeing castles, going to the beaches, exploring caves, and much more. You can stop to see the Advreck Castle, Stac Pollaidh, Dunrobin Castle, Smoo Cave, and maybe get a glimpse of the bottlenose dolphins.





Ticlio Pass, Peru




This is a drive that you can take through the Andes mountain range. The high altitude is not right for everyone, so keep this in mind. However, if you do want to check it out, you can see the sides of the mountain range and explore the beautiful scenery along the route, as well.

You can see all that La Oroya, Lima, and the Peru Yauli Province Morococha District have to offer.




Transfagarasan Road, Romania



This road is only 55.92 miles, which doesn't take long to drive at all. However, it allows you to drive through part of the Romania Carpathian Mountains. These mountains are beautiful. There are lakes, castle tours, and cultural tours that you can experience when going on this road trip. You can also check out the Vidaru Lake and Dam, go through various tunnels, and see the beautiful Balea Lake.



Amalfi Coast Road, Italy








Spanning across approximately 38 miles (which would take only about 35 minutes to drive without stops), this road trip still should not be passed up. On this road trip, you can explore the town of Sorrento, the town of Amalfi, and the gorgeous views all across this road. You can also stop to see the beautiful houses in Positano, the wonderful Praiano view, and the Maiori beaches.
