How Travel Helps Break You Out of Your Comfort Zone

Travel is something that everyone should do at least once in their lives—though ideally, you should travel as often as you can! Travel is a great way to see and experience new things that will enrich your life and even help break you out of our comfort zone. Leaving your comfort zone may seem daunting, but breaking away from our built-up comfort zones is the perfect way to find out new things about yourself and take on new challenges that you never thought you would be capable of facing. If you want to know more about how travel can help break you out of your comfort zone, read on to find out more.

You will meet new people

Even if you don’t intend to do so, travel will help you meet new people. Meeting new people will open you up to new perspectives in the world, giving you a greater understanding of the many different cultures and personalities that can be found throughout the world. Meeting new people doesn’t have to be as straightforward as standard introductions—every time you take a train in a new destination or find yourself navigating local bus systems with the help of friendly locals, you are meeting new people and breaking out of your comfort zone.

You will have new experiences

One of the most interesting aspects of travel is the new experiences that you’ll face. And new experiences will happen, even if you carefully plan a trip to be as ‘comfortable’ as possible. You might find yourself trying out a local restaurant or staying at a local hostel in the midst of a city’s bustling center; and more. These new experiences will help break you out of your comfort zone as you learn to enjoy and understand the experiences that have come your way, whether you planned them or not.

You will have to think on your feet

Travel requires you to think on your feet. No matter how carefully you plan a trip, there will always be something that needs to be changed—you might have to navigate a local transit system or head to a local supermarket for supplies or ask locals for recommendations when your planned destinations are unexpectedly closed. Thinking on your feet is something that most people don’t like to do, especially if you’re the type to carefully plan trips out to the last detail. Yet it’s thinking on your feet that will help break you out of your comfort zone; before long, you’ll wonder how you ever traveled without having to come up with new plans and solutions on the fly!

It can be nerve-wracking to think that travel will take you out of your comfort zone; after all, that’s why it’s called a comfort zone! But when you embrace the fact that going out of your comfort zone isn’t a bad thing, you will find yourself looking forward to the many new challenges and experiences that travel offers.
